Another day in paradise..

Good afternoon from a hot and sunny Dengboche!!

The team have enjoyed a good nights rest, filled up on fuel from the lodge and enjoy spectacular views of sunset over Lohtse and the clear night sky of Nepal.

We rose this morning a little later than normal, 7-30am for a hearty breakfast before our acclimatisation trek to the height of Mont Blanc, 4800m. The team made this with relative ease as were able to take on board the views of Cho You and Makalu (5th and 6th highest mountains) as well as clear views up the valley towards Island Peak and back towards Namche and Lukla.

The going rate for cleaning socks is around one twix, thanks Clare for that one!! Apart from that the team will now chill out for the rest of the day before our journey tomorrow towards Lobuche and then up to Gorak Shep and Base Camp. Spirits are high and confidence likewise as we aim to stand together on Kala Pattar on Sunday to watch the sunset over Everest...

So thanks for all the ongoing support, hopefully we can keep you all up to speed with how we get on but we dont know what the internet will be like up there but here is hoping!! Mobile phones are now done so apart from a carrier pigeon you might just have to wait and see!!

  2. Great to hear all of you are coping with the altitude and enjoying the sun! - no sun here by the way, when you return I doubt there'll be any leaves left on the trees, not that you'll be bothered after you've seen the sunset over Everest...WOW what a sight that will be!
Hope Si got his article to D&S in time for tomorrows edition - looking forward to it.

Going to the 'Dog's' tomorrow night - it was one of the gifts for the Expedition Auction of Promises from Sunderland Greyhound Stadium - there's about 15 of us going, pie 'n' pea supper in a private box with a BAR! Looking forward to it, I'll tell you how we all get on.
Take it easy on your way to Lobuche tomorrow -sounds like a tough day - will be thinking of you all.

Have fun, take care ...... The Robinsons' xxx

  11. Hi Tom and all the team,
So glad to hear everything is going so well. The project sounded to have been a great success and has had an impact on you all. Everyone is asking after you and following your progress with interest. There is quite a bit of coverage in the local papers which we are saving for you. Just in case you are interested- the weather here is poor - rain all day and pretty dismal. The clocks go back tonight so winter really is apon us. Nothing remarkable to report- no big lottery win or anything. Missing you - keep it up and make sure you are taking lots of photos to show us. Latest Leeds result - Millwall 2 Leeds 1.
Take care - love Mum, Dad, Kate and Luke.

  12. Hi all. Just saying hello and enjoy watching the Sun set over Everest tomorrow. We're so envious. Doug - don't eat all the cakes. I'll bake you one when you get home. Kelly Richard is missing you - he's sick of dishwasher duty. Not sure if you received any of our other blogs as we had a problem with the Cache on comp and did not realise they had not uploaded. Love to you all. Hope your legs don't ache too much. Love Bob, Elaine and Little. xxxx

Hope you enjoyed the sunset over Everest from Kala Patar and it was everything you dreamed of! We were with you in the group hug! Are you all braced for Base Camp Everest tomorrow? Still can't believe that you're there!

Can't wait to see the photos or the DVD. We hope it's not going too fast, but you've still got so much more to see, experience and enjoy.

Emma, James says he'll miss you at his passing out parade on Friday, but he's very proud of his little sister.

Cheerio, love to all, be safe and enjoy.
